What is Sea Buckthorn Berry?
Sea Buckthorn is a branched spiny shrub growing along mountain riverbeds; its leaves are silvery in color, while the fruit is bright orange.
Benefits of Sea Buckthorn Berry For Skin
Sea buckthorn contains an incredible 190 nutrients and phytonutrients. The Fruit Extract is rich in numerous vitamins, pro-vitamins, antioxidants, and skin emollients.
High Concentrations of Vitamin C + Vitamin E
Impressive concentrations of Vitamin C and Vitamin E, among the highest that we know of in the plant world, (naturally occurring vitamin C concentrations up to 12 times higher than that of an orange), make Sea Buckthorn effective at reducing UV damage in skin and help to nourish and protect your skin from damage caused by free radicals.
High levels of Carotenoids: beta-carotene, zeaxanthin and lycopene
Carotenoids reduce water loss, help to stimulate epidermal regeneration which smooths and softens skin. Carotenoids can address hyperpigmentation caused by UV radiation, hormones or even acne by decreasing the size of melanocytes and melanin levels.
Studies Show it Speeds Healing + Promotes Skin Elasticity
Researchers have found that Sea Buckthorn helped to heal wounds more quickly, reduce inflammation, and promote skin elasticity better than placebo.

How to use

There are a few ways to integrate sea buckthorn into your skincare practice. Sea Buckthorn extract is a natural antioxidant that can be used in topical applications to improve the softness of the skin, to reduce the appearance of fine lines and slow the signs of aging.

Sea Buckthorn is very effective when used in tandem with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid and jojoba oil. It is used in a variety of skin care formulations, including serums, creams, and lotions for all types of skin. It is particularly beneficial for mature skin.

Sea Buckthorn extract and oil can impart an intense reddish or yellow hue to products. Due to its high content of unsaturated fatty acids, Sea Buckthorn oil and extract needs to be sealed and stored away from heat and direct light.

What to Watch Out For
Very few side effects from sea buckthorn have been reported. Sometimes people with high blood pressure noted swelling, headache, dizziness and palpitations.
When used on the skin to treat burns, it sometimes caused a rash. Since there is not enough information to prove its safety, avoid using sea buckthorn if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
